SVN Supports I-81 Corridor Rail Upgrades
Shenandoah Valley Network has joined with partner Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation to support improvements to freight rail in the I-81 corridor. Norfolk Southern recently applied for federal stimulus funding for its Crescent Corridor project, which includes track improvements in Virginia.
Although the Crescent Corridor project alone will not result in sufficient truck traffic removed from I-81, it is an important first step.
