I-81 Freight Rail Study Falls Short

The state finally released the long-awaited study to determine the costs and potential of delivering truck freight from I-81 to rail.

Shenandoah Valley Network sees the freight rail study as a missed opportunity. Despite legislators' request for an in-depth assessment of rail's potential, the study fails to deliver the comprehensive analysis our policy-makers need to choose I-81 improvement options that are affordable, efficient and offer the lowest possible impact to the communities in western Virginia.
